Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose-flour
- 1 cup water
- ⅓ cup (plus 1 tbsp) unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
Prepare Dough: In a saucepan, combine water, butter, salt and sugar. Heat until boiling. Reduce heat and gradually stir in flour until dough forms. Remove from heat.
Cool & Mix: Transfer dough to mixing bowl and let cool 4-5 minutes. Add egg and vanilla, then beat with electric mixer until smooth.
Prep Air Fryer: Preheat air fryer to 375°F / 190°C. Spray basket with neutral cooking spray (coconut oil spray recommended).
Pipe & Cook: Transfer dough to piping bag. Pipe bite-sized portions into air fryer basket, leaving space between each. Alternatively, drop by spoonfuls. Brush with butter and cook 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
Coat: Mix cinnamon and sugar in shallow bowl. Roll warm churros in mixture. If coating isn't sticking, lightly brush with melted butter or spray with cooking spray.
Serve: Enjoy with chocolate syrup, honey, or Nutella for dipping.
